NIU Shooting Being Investigated

DEKALB, ILLINOIS (GaeaTimes.com)- The Northern Illinois University found itself amidst a shooting incident today which left a student injured. The NIU shooting episode took place during early Friday morning in the university campus. Following the shooting incident the NIU was closed down for a limited period of time although it was reopened later, after about half an hour.

Immediately after the shooting incident, NIU authorities released a message in which they informed the university students about the episode. Moreover, it has also been revealed that the shooting took place close to the Stevenson Residence Hall in the wee hours of Friday morning. After the incident, police authorities have embarked on a comprehensive investigation process to shed light on the intrinsic details of the incident. However, officials have stated that the gunman who carried out the crime has been arrested following the violent episode. At the same time, a statement that has been issued by the university officials reveals that the shooting incident is being presumed to be an isolated case which transpired between two individuals. Moreover, the student who was wounded fortunately did not receive any major injury and was taken to the Kishwaukee Community Hospital immediately after the incident.

Although the shooting incident managed to create a fear psychosis for a brief period of time in the NIU campus, classes were held in the university without any kind of hindrance. However, the students in the university have been requested to remain alert regarding any unusual situation inside the campus and have also been asked to take all the necessary precautions.
