RANCHI - Maoist guerrillas blew up railway tracks at two places in Jharkhand early Monday while enforcing a daylong shutdown, affecting train services, police said.
“Maoists blasted a railway track between Yogeshwar and Dania railway stations in Bokaro district. One metre of the railway track has been damaged,” a police official told IANS.
The rebels also blew up the track near Maiel station of Ramgarh district, he said.
Both railway tracks are situated in the Coal India Cord (CIC) section. The blasts hit rail services, leaving over 10 trains stranded.
Repair work is underway and services are likely to resume by afternoon, an official said.
The Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) has called a shutdown in many states to protest the rising prices of essential commodities and corruption in the country.
