Bomb scare at Newark airport in US

NEW YORK - One of the terminals at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey was closed Monday to the public due to a security scare, a media report said.
The incident was sparked by a suspicious package at an American Airlines (AA) counter in Terminal A, ABC News reported.
The terminal was evacuated due to a potential bomb scare.
However, the suspicious package investigated by authorities turned out to be a computer monitor that was leaking a small degree of radiation.
The radiation emmission is “normal for this device”, a law enforcement official told ABC News.
“It appears to be no cause for alarm, but authorities are taking the necessary precautions to be certain,” the official said.
Police halted incoming and outgoing vehicle traffic to the terminal shortly before 8 a.m. as the investigation got under way. The rest of the airport remained open.
This is the busiest travel week of the year and authorities are on high alert for possible terror incidents, the report said.
