GANDHINAGAR - The Gujarat High Court Monday admitted a bail plea filed by an accused in the 2002 Akshardham Temple terror attack.

The bench comprising Justices A.M. Kapadia and B.N. Mehta admitted the petition of Shaukatullah Ghori.

The hearing on Ghori’s bail application is scheduled for Jan 12, 2011.

Ghori was arrested in July 2009 from Hyderabad airport. He is suspected of providing support to two terrorists involved in the attack.

A designated Prevention of Terrorism Act court earlier rejected Ghori’s bail application.

The two terrorists - Murtuza Hafiz Yasin and Ashraf Ali Mohammed Farooq - were killed during the attack on the temple in Gandhinagar Sep 24, 2002.

They opened fire and lobbed hand grenades during the attack, killing 32 people and injuring more than 80 others.
