LONDON - The Britain-based suicide bomber who blew himself up in a terror attack in Sweden Saturday named his son Osama in honour of the Al Qaeda chief, a media report said Tuesday.

Taimour Abdulwahab al-Abdaly, 29, worked as a bed salesman in Luton, Bedfordshire, and lived with his beautician wife Mona, 28, baby Osama and two daughters aged four and two.

Al-Abdaly set off a bomb in his Audi car and then triggered a pipebomb killing himself in a busy Stockholm street packed with Christmas shoppers Saturday. Five other bombs strapped to his body failed to go off. Only two people were hurt in the incident.

The man’s “devotion” to the Al Qaeda leader’s hate teachings also got him “kicked out” of his local mosque in Luton. He had been trying to brainwash young Muslims, The Sun reported.

Farasat Latif, 41, secretary of the Luton Islamic Centre, said: “He was preaching extremist ideas inside the mosque. He denounced Muslim leaders and scholars. He would call them sell-outs.”

Iraq-born al-Abdaly was not reported to police, despite calling for suicide bombings and Islamic revolution and travelling to Yemen, an Al Qaeda stronghold.

He had earlier reportedly sent an email to Swedish police warning of deadly attacks in revenge for the country sending troops to Afghanistan.

Police searched his three-bedroom house Monday and reportedly found extremist books and videos. His computer was also being checked for emails between him and Al Qaeda.

His wife Mona produced a letter Monday night he had written before the attack.

In it he said: “My dear wife and children, I love you. I love you my lady. Kiss the kids for me. Tell them daddy loves them, will always love them.”

On being asked if she knew of her husband’s bomb plot, Mona said: “No, of course not. I am very devastated and upset.”
