PESHAWAR - A woman was injured in a bomb blast close to a police checkpost in Pakistan’s Peshawar city Tuesday, a day after two people were killed in an explosion near a school bus here.

Geo TV reported that a woman was injured in the blast on Charsadda Road. Police sources said a police vehicle was the target and the explosion was remote-controlled.

On Monday, a powerful bomb blast near a school bus killed two people, including a student.

A police official had said that the remote-controlled device exploded when the school bus was passing near it. The driver of the bus died on the spot.

The law and order situation in the restive northwestern Khyber-Pakhtoonkhwa province of Pakistan, bordering Afghanistan, has deteriorated in the last few years as the country has launched a crackdown against Al Qaeda and Taliban militants, who have resorted to carrying-out terrorist attacks in retaliation.
