Five injured in Manipur blast

IMPHAL - At least five people were injured Monday when militants lobbed a grenade at the crowded Nagamapal market in Manipur capital Imphal, police said

Probably the militants lobbed the grenade from a motorcycle and sped away, a police officer said.

Five people, most of them either shoppers or vendors, were injured and shifted to local hospitals with multiple splinter wounds. Two of them were stated to be critical.

There are more than 20 militant groups active in Manipur, a state of 2.4 million people bordering Myanmar.
