ISLAMABAD - At least eight people were killed and more than 40 injured Monday in a blast in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Express TV reported.

The blast took place at a building in Mohmand agency district where a group of tribal elders were holding a meeting. “The exact nature of blast is not yet known,” a security official said.

“The number of casualties is feared to rise as a meeting of tribal elders was under way in the office situated in Ghalnai area,” the television report said.

The attack took place a day after the inspector general of the Frontier Corps said that militants have been flushed out from 85 percent of the tribal area.
