NEW DELHI - A huge haul of arms and ammunition was recovered from Jammu and Kashmir following information given by a Hizbul Mujahideen militant who was arrested here last month, Delhi Police said Wednesday.

The arms were recovered Nov 25 from a cave in Richbagla forest of Rajouri area, additional deputy commissioner of police (Special Cell) Shibesh Singh said here.

The haul consisted of an AK-56 rifle, four magazines, 120 rounds, a hand grenade, two matrices, documents, diary and a combat gun pouch.

Mohammed Abdullah Inquilabi, 35, was caught late Nov 14 from Deer Park in Hauz Khas area of south Delhi. Referred to as ‘Mr. Surrender’, Inquilabi is a Pakistani national and is considered to be a self-styled divisional commander of Hizbul Mujahideen militant group.

Singh said Inquilabi revealed that he came in contact with a Maulvi in the Pakistan-administered Kashmir during his school days, and was motivated to join militancy.

“The Maulvi introduced him to the leader of Peer Panjal Regiment of Hizbul Mujahideen in PoK. After undergoing training in weapon handling, he came to J&K alongwith other militants. Over the years he grew in stature and notoriety and indulged in several terrorist acts during the last 10 years,” Singh added.

One of the longest surviving militants of J&K, Inquilabi also married a local girl to camouflage his identity.

“He is alleged to be involved in the massacre of four Hindus in Dharshal area of Rajouri district on May 14, 2005. He was also involved in the killing of three SPOs in Draman Bhudal area of Rajouri district on 18th of November 2009, followed by killing of three brothers in Tryath in Kalakote belt in 2005 and the murder of a BSF jawan, his wife and 2 SPOs in Kandi belt and Pirgagala areas in 2009,” Singh said.

Inquillabi is a resident of Shahadra in Pakistan administered Kashmir and was initially a chief of Hizbul’s Pir Panjal Regiment (HMPPR), which was wiped out recently. He then took over as divisional commander for Jammu province.
