ISLAMABAD - At least five people, including three police personnel, were killed and 10 injured in a powerful suicide blast Monday outside the residence of the information minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.

Many people had gathered at the residence of Information Minister Mian Iftikhar in Pabbi area of Khan Sher Gharhi at the time of the blast to offer condolences for the death of his son, Mian Rashid Hussain, who was killed Saturday, Geo News reported.

A suicide bomber tried to force himself into the house. On being intercepted by police, the bomber blew himself up killing several on the spot and injuring many others.

However, the minister was not present there at the time. He was receiving condolences from people at a degree college in the area.

The blast also destroyed at least three to four nearby shops.
