PATNA - Suspected Maoists blew up a state-run school in Bihar’s Gaya district at night, leaving it badly damaged, police said Tuesday.

According to police, Maoist guerrillas late Monday surrounded and blew up the building at Barha village in Gaya, about 100 km from here.

The guerrillas used dynamite to blow up the building, which was badly damaged in the blast, police said. A combing operation has been launched in the area.

Last year Maoist guerrillas apologised to students in Bihar for damaging their school buildings and affecting their education.
