PATNA - Maoist guerrillas blew up a railway track in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district early Friday, police said. Train traffic was disrupted.

They blew up the track near Kurhni railway station to protest the arrest of top Maoist leader Nakul in Chhapra district early this week. The Maoists had given a call for 24 hours’ strike in north Bihar to protest his arrest.

Police officials said the Maoists used dynamite to blow up about three feet of the track, disrupting rail traffic in Hajipur-Muzaffarpur section of the East Central Railway.

A railway official in Muzaffarpur said the incident disrupted rail traffic on the route. Repair work is underway.

In another incident, the rebels torched a private bus in Muzaffarpur late Thursday. There were no casualties, police said.
