DAVOS - A small blast took place at a hotel close to the site of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, breaking the windows of the premises, a media report Thursday said.

A session focusing on organised crime - \”Criminals Without Borders\” - was scheduled for the hotel at noon Thursday, with speakers including Colombian president Juan Manuel Santos and Robert Wainwright, director of Europol, or the European Police.

Nobody was injured in the blast, which occurred in a storage room at the Posthotel Morosani. Police are investigating the incident, police spokesman Thomas Hobi was quoted as saying by the Daily Express.

The hotel is just over a mile from the main venue of the annual gathering in the Alpine ski resort.

There is tight security at the WEF as left-wing groups plan to hold a protest this weekend against the meeting.

Anonymous leaflets were circulated at a demonstration last week in Switzerland urging activists to \”smash WEF\”.

\”Let us fight together against the unbearable propaganda of capitalism,\” the leaflet said.

However, in previous years, activists stayed away from the resort and staged violent demonstrations elsewhere in Switzerland.
