MOSCOW - A bomb attack on a cafe in the conflict-ridden North Caucasus region killed at least two people and left five others seriously wounded, Interfax news agency reported Friday.

Police confirmed the attack in the town of Khasavyurt in the republic of Dagestan.

Earlier, security forces in Dagestan capital Makhachkala killed two suspected Islamists - a man and his wife. Islamist militants have been fighting for years to create a separate state in the volatile North Caucasus region.
