US drone strike kills four in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD - At least four suspected militants were killed Wednesday in a US drone airstrike in Pakistan’s restive tribal region along the Afghan border, an intelligence official said.
The attack occurred in Hyder Khel village in Mir Ali, a town in North Waziristan, a base for Islamist militants.
An intelligence official said on the condition of anonymity that the drone fired two missiles into a suspected militant compound.
“Our reports show that at least four people were killed in the attack,” he said. The identity of those killed had yet to be determined.
The US has stepped up attacks by its unmanned aircraft in North Waziristan to dismantle networks of militants who train in the area and launch cross-border attacks into Afghanistan.
Pakistan has publicly expressed concerns about the drone strikes, but it is widely believed to be cooperating with the US to identify the targets of the airstrikes.
