Police officer, bodyguard wounded in Srinagar attack

SRINAGAR - Separatist guerrillas shot at and wounded a police officer and his bodyguard here Tuesday evening.

A senior police officer said separatist guerrillas fired at a private vehicle in the Batmallo locality, injuring the area station house officer (SHO) Nazir Ahmad and his bodyguard who were travelling in it.

“Ahmad received a bullet injury in his arm while his bodyguard sustained a serious bullet injury in his back. The injured were shifted to hospital for treatment,” the officer said.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
