Army captain, Lashkar militant killed in Kashmir gunfight

SRINAGAR - An army captain and a foreign guerrilla were Wednesday killed in the over 20-hour gun battle between the security forces and the holed up guerrilla in north Kashmir, police said.
A captain of counter insurgency Rashtriya Rifles, who was injured in the gunfight Tuesday, died of his injuries in the hospital Wednesday.
One foreign militant belonging to the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) has been killed in Chankhan locality of Sopore town. The house in which the militant was holed up was damaged because of the exchange of gunfire, a police officer said.
Troops of Rashtriya Rifles and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the local police had moved out Tuesday evening after specific information about guerrilla presence in Chankhan locality of Sopore town, 54 kilometres from here.
