KOLKATA - The body of an unidentified person suspected to have been killed by Maoist guerrillas was found Tuesday in West Bengal’s troubled West Midnapore district, police said.

A bullet riddled body was recovered from Jhargram area Tuesday morning. Maoist posters found near the body declared that he had been killed because he was a police informer, said a senior police official.

“We have recovered the body this morning. Maoist posters were found from the spot,” said Pravin Tripathi, superintendent of Jhargram police district.

Maoists are active in three western districts of the state - Purulia, Bankura and West Midnapore.
