KOLKATA - A Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) supporter was killed by suspected Maoists in Jhargram in West Bengal’s West Midnapore district Saturday, police said.

Ganesh Murmu, who is said to have deserted the party fearing attack by the Maoists, was kidnapped from his house by the rebels Friday night, police sources said.

His body was recovered Saturday morning near a forest in Manikpara village. Maoist posters said Ganesh was given the ‘capital punishment’ as he was police spy, said Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hassan.
