BAGHDAD - An Iraqi court has awarded death sentence to 62 people linked to Al Qaeda, Xinhua reported Tuesday.

About 130 others convicted for terrorist activities were given varying jail terms, it said. The court which held the men guilty of killings and bombings is located in Anbar province.

The death penalty in Iraq was suspended for over a year following the US-led invasion. It was reinstated in August 2004.
