Chavan welcomes Kasab verdict

MUMBAI - Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan Thursday welcomed the death sentence given to Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone gunman captured alive during the Mumbai terror attack.

“This was expected. I congratulate the police and the justice dispensing system,” he said. “Pakistan should cooperate with India on the issue of terrorism. I express the hope they will do so.”

Home Minister R.R. Patil said: “This is what we expected, and hoped for.”
