ISLAMABAD - At least 30 militants were killed and 10 injured Sunday when Pakistani military helicopters pounded terrorist hidehouts in the country’s north west.

The operation was carried out to flush out militants in Pakistan’s Orakzai tribal area, Xinhua reported.

Sources said that Pakistani security forces targeted four hideouts of militant groups in Ghandi village, Ghalji village and Dabori areas in upper Orakzai.

Some local TV channels reported that at least 40 militants were killed and six others were injured in the attack.

According to a witness, it is not clear how many civilians or security personnel were killed in Sunday’s attack.
