DHAKA - The US is coordinating counter-terrorism programmes with Bangladesh.
US ambassador to India Timothy J. Roemer arrived here Wednesday to discuss India-Bangladesh relations, especially ways to strengthen counter terrorism programmes, US officials told Bdnews24.com website.
Roemer flew in ahead of the visit by US Deputy Secretary of State James B. Steinberg. Steinberg went to India April 10, embassy officials said.
Government officials said Roemer would see Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“Ambassador Roemer’s meetings in Dhaka will focus on the growing prospects between Bangladesh and India for improved counter terrorism cooperation, trade and development, and regional integration,” a spokesperson for the American Centre was quoted as saying in New Age newspaper Thursday.
