SRINAGAR - A day after it foiled a major infiltration bid and killed eight guerrillas, the army Sunday said it expects increased incursions from across the border with Pakistan this summer.

Talking to newsmen here, Brigadier General Staff (BGS) of 15 Corps, Brigadier Gurmeet Singh said 400 guerrillas were waiting to infiltrate from across the Line of Control to the Indian side.

He said the army had killed eight infiltrators after it foiled a major infiltration bid in the Keran sector of the Line of Control last week.

He said the army had recovered eight AK-47 rifles, one UBGL grenade launcher and a large quantity of ammunition from the infiltrators.

The BGS said between 280 to 300 militants were still active in the Kashmir Valley.
