Maoists kill cop in Orissa

BHUBANESWAR - Maoist guerrillas killed a special police officer (SPO) in Orissa’s Malkangir district Tuesday, police said.

Armed Maoists killed Basudev Khilla in Maribeda village of the district, more than 600 km from here.

According to police, about 15 armed Maoists came to the village and attacked the SPO, who had returned to the village, killing him.

Another person named Ram Pujari, who was with Khilla, sustained bullet injuries in the attack and he has been admitted to hospital.
