Headley will not be extradited to India: US

NEW DELHI - The US Friday ruled out the extradition of Pakistani American terrorist David Coleman Headley to India but has assured that New Delhi will have access to all the information about him.
“Headley will not be extradited to India. But India will have access to all information,” US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Robert Blake told reporters here. Blake was, however, ambiguous about whether Indian investigators can get access to Headley.
“I don’t know whether Indian investigators will be allowed to go there,” was all Blake would say.
Blake’s remarks came even as Home Minister P. Chidambaram said India will continue to make efforts to get access to Headley to cross-examine or interrogate him.
Headley Thursday pleaded guilty to a dozen federal terrorism charges in a Chicago court and admitted his role in planning the 2008 Mumbai terror attack.
Headley also admitted that he attended training camps in Pakistan operated by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) on five separate occasions between 2002 and 2005.
