SRINAGAR - Heavy fighting broke out Wednesday between security personnel and militants holed up inside a house in a Jammu and Kashmir village, police here said.

The gunfire in Dadsara village in Pulwama district, about 35 km from here, started when troops of the Rashtriya Rifles and police surrounded the house after a tip that two guerrillas were hiding inside.

“The militants opened fire at the security forces after being told to surrender. More reinforcements have been rushed to the area to strengthen the cordon around the house and the village,” a police officer said.
