BHUBANESWAR - A Maoist guerrilla Wednesday surrendered to the police in Orissa’s Gajapati district, officials said.

The rebel has been identified as Jayab Majhi from the district’s Adaba area. He had joined the Maoist outfit five years ago and was involved in several cases of violence in the district, an official said.

“One Maoist surrendered after getting disillusioned by the Maoist ideology,” said Sanjiv Arora, superintendent of police in Gajapati.
