LUCKNOW - With the apprehension of ONE OR MORE terrorist strikeS looming large over Indias most populous state, Uttar Pradesh police have sounded an alert for schools.

In an advisory issued to all district police chiefs, the state police headquarters has urged the cops to sensitise schools against terror attacks.

Our aim is to sensitise heads of all schools across the state to observe certain drills and also create awareness among both staff and students,” Additional Director General of Police (law and order) Brij Lal said.

Among the major exercises to be carried out was installation of metal detectors at entry points to all schools, with proper entry records of all outsiders.

These institutions were being advised, among other things, to ensure that their public address systems were in good shape so that any emergency announcements could be made at a very short notice, he said.

Besides, students were to be told to promptly report to the authorities in case they noticed any unidentified object.

Instructions have also been issued for proper regulation of movement of students at the time of closure of schools. A staggered exit from the schools has been suggested so that jams caused on account of sudden rush of students could be avoided, Lal added.
