LUCKNOW - A team of Uttar Pradesh’s Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) Saturday evening left for Uttarakhand to track down a suspected Maoist training camp there, a government spokesperson said.
“On the basis of the information provided by one of the eight Maoists arrested from Kanpur Feb 8, ATS sleuths have left for Uttarakhand to destroy the training camp operating there,” the official added.
“The ATS officials have also taken along the Maoist who provided them inputs about the training camp in Uttarakhand,” the spokesperson added.
Meanwhile, police Saturday raided a house in Lucknow’s Hasanganj area where Kripa Shankar, one of arrested Maoists, was living.
However, anything substantial was not found during the raid.
Shankar and seven others members of the banned Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) were nabbed Feb 8 in Kanpur district, some 90 km from Lucknow.
