NEW DELHI - Delhi Police strengthened security and intensified patrolling in the national capital Sunday following specific inputs about a possible terrorist strike after a bomb blast ripped through a popular eatery in Pune, killing nine people.

The police deployed additional security personnel and intensified patrolling at all major installations in the city. Main markets, malls, cinema halls, airport, railway stations, bus terminals, metro stations and other areas were especially put under scanner.

“We are taking all possible steps. The Quick Reaction Teams are ready and have been stationed at various places,” a senior police officer said.

Specific inputs pointed to a possible terrorist strike in the national capital, Indore in Madhya Pradesh and Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

The respective state governments were asked to beef security at vital installations and crowded places — potential targets of terrorists.

Nine people, including two foreign nationals, were killed, while 60 people (48 Indians and 12 foreign nationals) were injured in the blast at the German Bakery in Pune Saturday evening.
