BHUBANESWAR - Two rebels of the outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) were arrested Thursday in Orissa’s Keonjhar district, police said.

One of the rebels was secretary of the local Pathargarh area committee of the CPI-Maoist and the other its president, district Superintendent of Police A.K. Singh told IANS.

“We nabbed them during combing operation in a forested area near Pathargarh village,” he said, adding that both were involved in several crimes including in the attack on a police post in the mining town of Daitari last month.

The district headquarters of Keonjhar is 235 km from state capital Bhubaneswar.
