Pakistan announces relief for Karachi blasts victims

KARACHI - Pakistan has announced a compensation of Rs.500,000 (about $5,900) for next of kin of each victim killed in Friday’s terrorist attacks here, a media report said.

Sindh provincial Home Minister Zulfiqar Mirza said in addition to that Rs.100,000 will be given as relief to each injured person, the Online news agency reported.

At least 25 people were killed and 80 injured in two bomb attacks, one on a bridge on the Faisal road and the other at a hospital.

Mirza told reporters that terrorists involved in the blasts belonged to Jand Ullah outfit.

He said the terrorists failed to target the Muharram procession due to tight security, adding it was not possible to check every vehicle in the city.
