BHUBANESWAR - Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Monday received an email threatening to kill him if a jailed woman Maoist is not released immediately, officials said Monday.

The email’s sender sought immediate release of Saswati Das, wife of Orissa’s most wanted Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda, who was arrested Jan 15. The email sender threatened to kill Patnaik if he visited Cuttack city, some 26 km from here, Tuesday to take the salute at the Republic Day parade.

“The threat email was received today (Monday) in which the sender has threatened to kill the chief minister,” Patnaik’s public relation officer Sukanta Kumar Panda told IANS.
