Blast in Manipur; no casualties

IMPHAL - A powerful blast took place in Manipurs capital Imphal, but there were no casualties.

The explosion late Friday took place on a roadside, three km from Imphal airport.

“Since there were no people or traffic, no casualties were reported,” a Manipur police official told reporters Saturday.

A grenade attack close to the Manipur police chief’s residence injured three passersby here Tuesday.

Security forces in the northeast have been alerted with militant groups calling for boycott of the Republic Day.
