ISLAMABAD - At least six alleged militants were killed Monday in a missile strike in Pakistan’s tribal region near the Afghan border, Pakistani security officials said.

Three more people were injured in the airstrike that targeted a house and a vehicle near Mir Ali, a major city in North Waziristan tribal district.

“A US drone fired three missiles. Two of these hit a house and one destroyed a vehicle,” said an intelligence official who spoke on condition of anonymity. “According to our information, six people are killed and three injured in both attacks.”

A second intelligence official confirmed the incident and casualty figures.

It was the 14th drone attack this month. More than 100 people, mostly alleged militants, have died in the airstrikes.

The US does not admit to the drone strikes but officials in Washington privately say the victims have included dozens of Al Qaeda and Taliban leaders, who were behind cross-border raids on NATO-led international forces in Afghanistan.

Pakistan publicly condemns the strikes by unmanned aircraft but many analysts believe its intelligence officials are assisting the CIA in spotting targets.
