Latest terror strikes in Kashmir (To go with Kashmir Roundup)

SRINAGAR - The militant attack in Sopore town Friday is the seventh in the fresh bout of violence that has hit Jammu and Kashmir since the beginning of the year.

Following are the latest incidents:

Jan 14: A nightlong gun battle left two guerrillas dead and three security personnel injured in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Jan 12: A Hizbul Mujahideen militant was killed in a gunfight with security forces in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Jan 10: Security forces killed two Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militants in a gunfight in Reasi district in Jammu.

Jan 8: Two Lashkar-e-Taiba guerrillas were killed in Khrew village of Pulwama after a police raid.

Jan 7: A civilian, a policeman and two militants were killed in a major terror siege in Srinagar’s Lal Chowk that lasted for 23-hours.

Jan 2: Militants shot and wounded two Border Security Force (BSF) troopers in Srinagar when they were withdrawing cash from an ATM.
