BHUBANESWAR - A large group of Maoist guerrillas blew up a school building in Sundergarh district of Orissa, police said Monday.

“The Maoists have blown up a school building in Rehlatu panchayat through landmine last (Sunday) night,” Rourkela Superintendent of Police Diptesh Pattnaik told IANS.

According to police, about 40 rebels were involved in the incident.

Last month, the same village witnessed Maoist fury when a panchayat office was blown up by Maoists. The Maoists have been seething in anger since the villagers of Rehlatu panchayat sought police protection from them.

Sundergarh is about 600 km from here.
