SHILLONG - Two rebels of the outlawed United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) Friday surrendered before the Border Security Force (BSF) authorities in Meghalaya, an official said.

Madhav Bora, 36, and Abhijay Mising, 20, who underwent guerrilla warfare training in Myanmar, were members of the ULFA 28th battalion - the potent striking unit of the separatist rebel group.

According to a BSF statement, the rebels allegedly involved in extortion and murder cases, deposited a .22 mm pistol, a 9 mm pistol and some live rounds.

Both the surrendered militants have been handed over to the Assam police for further action.
