PARIS - Paris’ landmark Eiffel Tower and an office building were evacuated late Friday night after bomb warnings made by anonymous telephone callers, media reports said Saturday.

The reports Saturday said that police received two calls, one warning about a bomb at the tower and another at the Tour Montparnasse office building.

Security officers ordered the evacuation of both, bringing some 2,000 people to safety.

A search turned up no explosive material and after two hours the Tour Montparnasse was reopened, while the Eiffel Tower remained closed.

It was the third such closure of the Eiffel Tower after it was twice evacuated last September following what turned out to be false bomb alerts.
