MUMBAI - Bombay High Court Monday upheld the death sentence of Pakistani terrorist Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab, convicted for the 26/11 attack on Mumbai, police said.

A division bench comprising Justice Ranjana Desai and Justice R.V. More dismissed an appeal filed by Kasab challenging the death sentence by Special Judge M.L. Tahaliyani in May 2010.

Terming it as “the rarest of rare cases”, the high court upheld all the four counts on which Kasab had been awarded the death penalty by the lower court.

However, in a setback to the prosecution and investigators, two of his Indian accomplices, Fahim Ansari and Sabahuddin, were acquitted by the court, their lawyers said.
