KABUL - The governor of Afghanistan’s Kunar province said Sunday 65 people, including civilians and anti-government militants, were killed by NATO-led forces in operations over the past four days.
Kunar province is 185 km east of Afghanistan capital Kabul.
“In the four days of operations against insurgents in Ghazi Abad district, 65 people including militants and civilians have been killed,” Fazlullah Wahidi told Xinhua.
Wahidi, however, could not tell the exact number of militants or civilians killed in the operations which included air power and ground troops.
Earlier, NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in a statement said the alliance had sent an investigating team to look into the allegations of ISAF-caused civilian casualties during operations in Kunar province.
