LONDON - An air parcel containing explosives from Yemen which was intercepted in Britain was meant possibly to explode over the US’ eastern coast, Scotland Yard said Wednesday.

British police said that the explosive parcel, intercepted at East Midland Airport near Nottingham, said the bomb was to have been activated in Britain Oct 29.

“If it had not been removed from the airplane, the activation (of the bomb) might have taken place over the eastern coast of the US,” the police in London said.

The parcel, a printer cartridge loaded with explosives, was one of two bound for the US from Yemen. The other parcel was intercepted in Dubai.
