Rs.20 mn for security at shrines in Pakistan province

ISLAMABAD - A sum of Rs.20 million has been allocated for bolstering security at the shrines spread across Pakistan’s Sindh province. The move comes after a terror attack on a shrine in provincial capital Karachi left seven people dead.
Abdul Haseeb, a provincial minister, said that Rs.20 million have been earmarked in the current development budget for full-proof security measures at the shrines in Sindh province, the News International reported Tuesday.
He said that walkthrough gates would be installed at the shrines.
Seven people were killed and over 60 injured Oct 7 when two suicide bombers blew themselves up at the entrance of the 8th century Sufi shrine in Karachi.
The twin blasts occurred within an interval of minutes at the gate of Abdullah Shah Ghazi’s mausoleum in Clifton, where a large number of devotees gather every Thursday.
