Afghanistan News: Roadside Bombing killed four Italian soldiers, injured one

A car carrying Italian soldiers was blown up by a bomb explosion in Afghanistan today. The explosion left one soldier injured while taking the life of four others.

Italian Minister of Defence Ignazio La Russa said, the soldiers were attacked near Farah in western Afghanistan while escorting a convoy of civilian trucks.

Europe was threatened of terrorists attack from these regions. Franco Frattini, Foreign Minister of Italy said in an email,

“We are committed to accelerate the transition phase which will give Afghan soldiers the responsibility to control their country,”

Counting on today’s blast, the death toll of Italian soldiers in Afghanistan rises to 34, since 2004. Italy was to increase its troops from 3500 to 4000 in the country, as stated by Undersecretary Maurizio Crosetto on the Ministry of Defence website Sept. 23. But now it seems they will be reducing the number by the beginning of the next year,
