Angry villagers force Taliban to free 3 men

ISLAMABAD - Taliban guerrillas set free three labourers of the six they had abducted in Pakistan a month ago after villagers, incensed over the killing of three of the men, captured relatives and supporters of the militants to avenge the murders.
Pakistani Taliban had kidnapped six labourers from Bamburet valley in Chitral a month ago. The labourers were from Dhog Darra area in Upper Dir.
The bodies of three labourers were found in Arandu area of Chitral a few days after the kidnapping. Their throats had been slit.
The News International quoted a spokesman for the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, Malakand division, as saying that the three men were killed as they were part of the pro-government Lashkar that had taken action against the Pakistani Taliban in Dhog Darra in Upper Dir.
Angered by the turn of events, villagers in Dhog Darra revived the Lashkar and they captured some of the relatives and supporters of the militants to avenge the murders.
On Saturday, the three remaining labourers were set free by the Taliban.
District Coordination Officer Chitral Rehmatullah Wazir said the kidnapped labourers were released unconditionally after negotiations with the Taliban.
