RANCHI - Jharkhand Assembly speaker C.P. Singh was Tuesday allegedly threatened by a Maoist rebel as he forwarded to the authorities a complaint against an official of the state.

“I received a letter written by Raju Mandal, who claimed to be a Maoist. The letter says not to speak against science and technology department director Arun Kumar or else I will be killed,” Singh told reporters here.

He said that he had received a complaint against Arun Kumar and forwarded it to Chief Secretary A.K. Singh for appropriate action.

The speaker has informed the police. “It seems someone has played mischief by using the name of Maoists,” Singh said.
