ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani Friday strongly condemned the suicide bomb attack in Quetta city that left 40 people dead and over 100 injured.
Gilani ordered an immediate probe into the attack, Xinhua reported. Quetta is the capital city of southwestern Balochistan province.
The bomber blew himself up among thousands of people who were participating in a rally in support of the Palestinian people. The attacker was carrying 15 kg of explosives.
The attack took place around 3.00 p.m. at Meezan Chowk. Some 2,500 people were at the rally organised by Shia Muslims.
The attack comes two days after dozens of people were killed in bomb attacks in Lahore.
Meanwhile, Quetta police have cordoned off the area. The injured have been rushed to various hospitals in the city.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
