Maoist carrying reward of Rs.2 lakh arrested

RANCHI - A Maoist, for whose capture a reward of Rs.2 lakh was announced, was arrested along with another rebel from Jharkhand’s Giridih district Wednesday, police said.

According to police, Mukhtar Ansari, a Maoist commander of the outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), was arrested along with another rebel from Taratand village of Giridih district, around 210 km from here.

On a tip-off, a police squad raided the village and nabbed Mukhtar, wanted in more than 15 cases.

Police seized Maoist literature and other incriminating documents from his possession.
