BHUBANESWAR - Maoists killed a villager in Orissa’s Koraput district, suspecting him to be a police informer, police said Tuesday.

A group of about 30 rebels dragged Sikalu Meneka from his house in Tentulipadar village Monday night and killed him. The rebels fled into the forest after leaving his body on a nearby road, a police officer told IANS.

A police team has been sent to the spot after the victim’s wife lodged a complaint, he said.

The killing took place under Narayan Patna police station area, some 500 km from here. The area is considered a Maoist stronghold.
